I knew Joey at the Caroline County Y. He befriended everyone who used the swimming pools and was a regular at Qi Gong classes. He gave me many candy mints, oranges and bananas over the years and I managed to surprise him with an orange or banana or can of beans from time to time as a gesture of thanks for all he did for others. He was a kind and friendly spirit who will be remembered with fondness by all he touched.

I worked at KD from 2014-2018, and I would see Joe everyday.and everyday he would hand me a piece of hard candy. It would brighten my day seeing him smile and being nice to folks. Joe was so kindhearted and enjoyed life to the fullest. You could see it in how he talked and acted towards a stranger. My condolences to the family. Joe was a good man.

I had met Joey at the Ladysmith YMCA. We would be in the back of the YOGA class dancing. He would always pass out chewing gum, apples, or oranges. I was one of his daughters. I’m going to truly miss him. He was the first person at my wedding. I inteoduced him to my mother and husband. Joey would call me “Venus!!” and my husband “Ironman!” KD is not the same without you. I’m going to miss riding Dominator and Intimidator and Lazy River without you. Rest easy Dad. We’ll meet again!! I love you❤️

Joey, I am truly going to miss seeing you at KD. You were family. You were so kind and sweet. I’m going to “keep moving” as you say. I’m going to miss doing the Lazy River with you. I love you Joey.

I was always happy to see Joe when he came to Guest Services at Kings Dominion. He was always a ray of sunshine and will be missed!

Joe was loved by many I had went to visit him in the hospital sometime last year & brought him some snacks he loved and anything he wanted . Along with this bear I provided to have something joyful for him ❤️I have known him since I was a little girl he was always such a joy to be around would always do anything to help others & always brought fruit out of the blue but always with a joyful smile & laugh 😊 you will Always be remember but never forgotten !

I met Joe when I worked at the camp ground at Kings Dominion; somewhere around the early ’90s. Joe was one of a kind. He gave to others when he was the one in need. He was probably the kindest man I have ever met. I did what I could when he needed something taken care of. He came to live in the neighborhood where I live. You would come home from work or wake up to a gift outside from Joe. He loved to leave some mints and bubblegum and maybe a watermelon. A stuffed animal or some toy for one of the grandchildren. I will always treasure one of the last surprises I received; a beautiful picture with roses. I always will remember Joe’s smile. You didn’t see Joe without his smile. Always. There will be a void that no one else can fill. This world only had one like Joe and we will miss him.
